Owens collects fourth-place finish in Buckeye Spring 50 at Atomic Speedway

Officially commiting to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Jimmy Owens made the trek to Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway on Saturday afternoon for the first of two race nights with the series.

With 48 Late Models checked in for the Indiana Icebreaker, Owens found himself in a B-Main and just missed the last transfer spot. Unable to obtain a provisional for the $15,000-to-win main event, Jimmy was forced to sit out the remainder of the evening.

Looking to turn his luck around on Sunday at Atomic Speedway (Chillicothe, Ohio), Jimmy picked up the pace by topping his qualifying group and dominating his heat race. Rolling off from the outside pole with $12,000 on the line, Owens ran inside the Top-3 for most of the 50-lap feature before slipping to fourth when the checkered flag flew. He trailed Jonathan Davenport, Mike Marlar, and Devin Moran while Bobby Pierce completed the Top-5.
