Owens 18th in North/South 100; Pair of Top-10's in preliminary features at Florence

Making the trek to Kentucky on Thursday afternoon, Jimmy Owens and the Koehler Motorsports team tackled the 41st-annual North/South 100 at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

With a whopping 61 entries on hand, Owens nabbed the final transfer spot in his heat race for the first of two $5,000-to-win preliminary features. With only 25-laps scheduled, Jimmy stormed through the field from his 19th-place starting spot to finish inside the Top-10 in eighth.

For another round of prelims on Friday, Owens topped his qualifying group before finishing second in his heat race. Running inside the Top-10, Owens recorded a eighth-place in his $5,000 preliminary feature once again.

For Saturday's $75,000-to-win finale, Owens started on the front row of his heat race and outdueled Kyle Bronson for the top spot. Sitting on the pole for the North/South 100, Jimmy led the first 22 laps before fading to finish outside the Top-10 in 18th.
