Speedweeks Continues for Owens at BRP

The General Tire Winternationals with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) brought Jimmy to Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) on Sunday night for a $10,000-to-win program.

Qualifying sixth in his group in Allstar Performance qualifying Owens inched into the main event with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat race.

He started 16th on the grid, but was eliminated from action on lap 13 with damage received from an on-track tangle. Jimmy was credited with a 13th-place finish.

On Monday night another $10,000-to-win program was held, and Jimmy fell two spots short of qualifying for the main event with a fifth-place finish in his B-Main as his night drew to an early close.

Action was schedule to resume on Friday night at All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Fla.), but wet weather wiped the event from the slate. The scheduled doubleheader was consolidated into a single $15,000-to-win event on Saturday.

With 45 entries on hand Jimmy rallied from sixth-to-third in his heat race to lock into the feature. Starting ninth, Owens battled tricky conditions as he ultimately slide back to a 19th-place finish.
